My husband and I came to Ratcliffe Culey last weekend to look for clues about my family and we found the grave of John and Sarah Masser who died 1812 and 1817 - amazing. I can trace my father right down from them but I have a query about their son - I have Joseph born 1787 who married Sarah but other people seem to have this person as George - anyone have any ideas? The village is beautiful and this site great. Pat Fereday

Very interesting site. Im doing my mothers family tree- her family names are Harding and Land. Both families were from Atherstone,Twycross,Sibson areas. My grandfather was born Mancetta. On the Harding side I have gone back to the early 1700's and 1750's with the Land's. Would love to hear from anyone who thinks they may be descended from the Hardings/Lands.

Browsing the internet I just happened to reach your site. I wonder what happened to the Lordship of the Manor of Sheepy Parva, whatever that means. I see it was once my great grandfather's, so perhaps as the eldest son of the eldest son, etc, it may be me, or was it sold/abolished. I think your website is splendid; I wish someone in Chipping Campden where I live would do a similar job!

I recently dined at a restaurant in Braidwood, a small village in New South Wales. When I was paying my bill, the proprietor, David Parsons, said, you've got a terrible name and through him I have obtained details of this incredible website. I am now trying to find out if my "Parsons" family is linked with this huge one. My father, Joseph, his father Francis, and his father were all in turn Sexton and verger of St Lukes Parish Church, Cradley Heath.

Have you seen this (Extract from Genuki Family History News 159) http://www.mdlp.co.uk/resources/ratcliffe/index.htm This is an absolutely superb website revolving around the village of Ratcliffe Culey in Leicestershire. There is a wide range of excellent material on this site, and the source material is wonderful. Amongst some of the gems of the site are a reasonable size history of the village, with plenty of links, an index to the marriage registers between 1752 and 1925, including for many years Banns. There is an index to Poor Law in the village, with great detail on each entry, much more than just an index, there is an index to Monumental inscriptions, including quite a lot of transcriptions. There is also a wealth of miscellaneous information, and this is a great website for people with Leicestershire ancestors, the same person has done a website for Sheepy Magna along the same lines, which you can reach from the above, and is to be congratulated on both! The sites are easy to navigate and simple to load making them a delight to view and use.
